Wow! Once again, you hit the nail I didn’t really realize I was holding on the head. Even the auto-generated listening version had me almost in tears. Thanks for this post, Jess!
Holy cow, I feel this. Recognizing that my version of fun is what's fun for me and won't be universal, just wow. (my husband's mom loved making homemade Halloween costumes; I've felt compelled to do that but just don't have it in me/care. I love a good picnic or can whip up some clothespin crafts on a random Thursday though!
I needed the reminder to have my version of fun 💗 Doesn't surprise me that, when I stop and think, that's when my daughter and I have the most fun together too.
I read this yesterday, and after yet another 6am wake up call this morning, I figured if I had to be up that early, I wanted a fun adventure for myself. My boys are perfectly happy puttering around the playroom or backyard before school, but off we went to bagels and babychinos at our local bagel shop. My morning instantly went from “omg I’m soo freaking tired” to “wow, we all had a great morning out to breakfast / walking around the park”. Thank you for this reminder that our fun matters, and is often contagious!
A fun mom is a mom who is having fun 🤯 Ok wow this resonates.
I am so happy to hear it resonated!!

Reading this, I realized most of the moments my kids bring up later are the ones where I accidentally got caught up in the fun too.
